The Urban Loop that is planned for Greensboro, NC has been changed. The route will now avoid the neighborhood of Quail Oaks in northeast Greensboro. Homes in this neighborhood have been built within the last few years.
According to the News and Record, the North Carolina Department of Transportation announced the change last night at a meeting with homeowners. The change to the plan was first considered when it became apparent that the new road would require that seventeen homes be destroyed. The cost of demolishing these homes would have been approximately $5 million!
